Detective Frank Hanson joined Tucson Police Department as a police officer in January of 1999. After finishing the police academy he was assigned to patrol in Operations Division West. He worked as a Field Training Officer from 2002 until promoted to Detective in 2012. While in patrol he became a patrol rifle operator and was certified in Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus. He was selected to join the Major Theft Offenders Unit in November of 2006 and worked property crimes cases until February of 2008. From 2008 until 2012 he worked patrol in Operations Division West.
He was promoted to Detective in February of 2012 and assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit. He participated in the investigation of cases ranging from simple assaults to homicides. In February of 2013 he transferred to the Aggravated Assault Unit. While in the Aggravated Assault Unit he has investigated Aggravated Assaults, Homicides and helped investigate Officer Involved Shootings. He has been to the Basic Detective School and the AHIA Basic Homicide Investigation Course. He has interest in Blood Spatter Pattern Analysis and plan on attending schools in the future. He also has interest in working in the Tucson Police Department Homicide Unit.
He earned my Bachelor of Science in General Business from the University Of Arizona in 1990. He was also commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Army Reserves in 1990. He graduated from the Transportation Officer Basic Course in 1991 and joined the Colorado Army National Guard in 1992. In 1992 he transferred to the Arizona Army National Guard. He held various positions in the Arizona Army National Guard to include, Platoon Leader, Ammunition Officer in the Support Operations Section of the Battalion Headquarters and Selective Service Officer. He left the National Guard in 2002 after attaining the rank of Captain. He had training in Military Leadership and completed the Transportation Officer Advance Course.
He has been an AHIA member since 2013.
